John Philip True
1957-2024
John Philip True, age 66, of Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at his residence.
Born Monday, June 3, 1957, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of John W. True and the late Gretchen Truax True.
Phil was a graduate of Hancock High School, class of 1975.
He retired from the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Phil was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He loved being “Pappy” to his four grandchildren, he felt time spent with them was never wasted.
Phil is survived by his wife Vickie Younker True for over 47 years of marriage; father, John W. True, Hancock, Md.; son, Eric True and girlfriend Megan Shives of Clear Spring, Md.; daughter Amanda Howe and husband Keith of Hancock, Md.; four grandchildren; Jonathon True, Landon Howe, Sydney True and Chloe Howe; brother, Bradley True of Greencastle, Pa.; sister, Teresa Hess of Hancock, Md.
Services were held Thursday, April 25, 2024, with visitation at 10 a.m.-12 p.m., followed by a 12 p.m. service officiated by Pastor Jeff Hawbaker at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. Burial followed at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Hancock, Md.
