1970-2024

Brian Keith Reed, 54, of Hancock, Md., passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Brian was born on February 19, 1970 to the late D. Fay (Wolford) Reed and Orville “Tom” Reed in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Brian was a 1988 graduate of Hancock High School where he played multiple sports including football and track and field. Brian was affectionately referred to as “Bronc” by many of his teammates.

Brian retired from Maryland Correctional Institute-Hagerstown as a lieutenant after twenty-five years of service in 2017. Brian was most recently employed as the Regional Security Director with Trulieve.

He was a member of the Hancock Fire Department with over thirty years of service to Hancock and surrounding communities where he held many different line officer positions over the years. Brian was a member of the James W Bowers Masonic Lodge.

Brian is survived by his wife Deborah (Roman) Reed of 29 years and two daughters, Brittany Reed and Melissa Yonker (husband Michael Yonker) and one sister Teresa Barnes. However, the light of Brian’s eye came in the form of his two grandsons, Easton Keith Reed and Brady Michael Yonker. Brian also had an ornery great nephew who he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with, Chandler Buskirk. Brian had many loving nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins that he enjoyed being around and spending time with. Brian is also survived by his faithful companions Cocoa, Maverick and Snickers.

A gathering of friends will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., Pastor Becki Wessinger will officiate. There will also be a gathering of friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hancock Fire Department or Hospice of Washington County in Brian’s name.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md.
