James “Jim” Webster Shank

1941-2024

James “Jim” Webster Shank, age 82, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born June 24, 1941, in South Charlestown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Woodrow and Hazel (Hendershot) Shank.

Jim retired from PennDOT after thirty years of service.

He was a member of the Bedford County Saddle Club, Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees and served as a Union Steward.

Jim loved fishing, hunting, boating and caring for his garden. He also enjoyed spending time with all his grandkids and will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Katie Batzel.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Virginia (Sigel) Shank; one son, James “Eddie” Shank; two daughters, Monica Fletcher and Pam Bageant; eight grandchildren, Amber, Leland and Levi Bageant, Mitchel and AJ Fletcher and Heather, Allen and Bradlee Shank; and seven great grandchildren, Kennedy, Owen, Ethan, Sadie, Xavier, Hazel and Magnolia and one sister, Memory Joll.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Church, 5739 Buck Valley Rd, Warfordsburg, Pa. Pastor Bill Croteau Sr will officiate. A fellowship meal will follow at the Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. All are invited to attend.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md.
