Carl E. Wertman, Jr.
1947-2024
Carl E. Wertman, Jr., 76, of Hustontown, Pa., and formerly of Hancock, Md., passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his residence.
Carl was born in Hancock, Md., on February 3, 1947, the son of the late Thelma Geraldine (Clingerman) Wertman and Carl E. Wertman, Sr.
He was the husband of Norma J. (Strait) Wertman whom he married on June 28, 1968.
Mr. Wertman served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and old western movies and TV shows.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Barbara A. Clippinger, of Hustontown, Pa.; sons George E. (husband of Kelly) Wertman, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Roy S. Wertman, of Hustontown, Pa.; three sisters; two brothers and six grandchildren. Carl is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, granddaughter and son-in-law.
A visitation was held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 6-8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, Pa. There was also visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home. Religious service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, Pa., at 11 a.m., was on Monday, January 15, 2024 with Pastor Debbie Wright and Pastor Delmas Bard officiating. Interment was at Damascus Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. Military honors were conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
