Edward E. Lewis
1943-2024
Edward E. “Ed” Lewis, age 80, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Ed was born on September 8, 1943, in Hancock, Md., the son of the late Fred H. and Hilda Jean Thompson Lewis. Edward married Nancy Lewis on February 9, 1968, in Hancock, Md.
Ed served in the Army National Guard until he received his honorable discharge in 1964.
Ed worked as a carpenter for C. William Hetzer Construction Company in Hagerstown, Md., and later at the Schreiver Farm in Warfordsburg, Pa.
He enjoyed tending to his flowerbeds and his roses. Ed enjoyed being outside mowing and gardening.
Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Lewis of Warfordsburg, Pa., four daughters, Tina (wife of Mike) Eader of Warfordsburg, Pa., Tammy (wife of Matt Meyers) Lewis of Maylene, Ala., Crystal Zinn of Massachusetts and Robin Powell of Waynesboro, Pa.; one son, Tony Lewis of Chambersburg, Pa., 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Ed is also survived by 4 siblings, Barb Ellis of Hagerstown, Md., Patricia Newlin of Falling Waters, W.Va., Lucinda Riley of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Frederick Lewis of Hagerstown, Md.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hilda Jean Lewis, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 granddaughter, and one sister, Carol Jean Thompson.
A graveside service was held at Antioch Cemetery in Big Cove Tannery, Pa. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1 p.m.
The family has entrusted Edward’s care to Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, Pa.
