Richard Lee Harrington, Sr. 1946-2023

Richard Lee “Rick” Harrington, Sr., age 77, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, Va.

Born September 5, 1946 in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Donald Earl and Helen Louise Main Harrington. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Rick was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. He served in the United States Army from March 16, 1966 until honorable discharge on March 15, 1968 at the rank of Specialist 4th Class during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge.

Rick worked as a phone repairman with Western Electric in Arlington, Va. After 12 years of service he retired and moved back to Berkeley Springs. He worked for 17 years until his retirement with U.S. Silica Company as a Health and Safety Director. He then went to work with Brentwood in Martinsburg as Safety Director. Recently he worked as an appraiser with Kesecker Appraisal Services in Berkeley Springs.

Rick was a life member of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 and Risinger-Stotler VFW Post #4019. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs. Rick loved to go boating on Raystown Lake every weekend and enjoyed hunting.

Rick is survived by his wife of 54 years Edwina Elizabeth Dunham Harrington at home, one son, Richard Lee Harrington, Jr. of Berkeley Springs, one sister, Sylvia Stuckey of York, Pa., one brother, Donnie Harrington of Myersville, Md., three grandchildren, Makenah Miller, Landon Harrington and Alaira Harrington and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Derrick Harrington. Services and burial will be private.
