Moynelle Friend Peck
1934-2023
Moynelle Friend Peck, 89, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at her home of 65 years on Fulton Street in Hancock, Md.
Born May 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Blair and Augusta Schriever Schetrompf, and the wife of Calvin Peck, whom she had been married to for 67 years.
She was a 1952 graduate of Southern Fulton School.
For 35 years, she owned and operated Moynelle’s Day Care.
She was a member of the Women’s Ministry at Pleasant Grove Church, Warfordsburg, Pa., where she was also a Sunday School teacher and a choir member. She was a member of the Hancock Rescue Squad for 15 years.
She enjoyed fishing, basketball and quilting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Yvonne Perry, Frederick, Md.; two brothers-in-law, Rodger Peck, Winchester, Va., and Ronald Beddow, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Beddow and Margaret Jay; and one brother, Blair Schetrompf, Jr.
The family received friends Wednesday, November 22, 2023, 12-1 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Church, Pleasant Grove Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. Funeral service followed at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Denver Plessinger officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Moynelle’s name to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Hagerstown, MD.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md.
