Phyllis Jean Michael
1932-2023
Phyllis Jean Michael, age 91, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Monday, September 25, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 4, 1932 in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jannie Goldwin and Anna Eppinger Shade.
She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
Phyllis was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
She worked at the Interwoven Hosiery Mill and the Dairy Queen.
Phyllis was a homemaker to her family all her life.
She was a member of the Morgan County Rescue Auxiliary.
Mrs. Michael enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, embroidering and painting ceramics.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Richard Lynwood Michael, Mark Cameron Michael and Kevin Gene Michael, all of Berkeley Springs, five grandchildren, Nicole Sue Shoppert, Tammy Jo Unger, Summer Ann McClintock, Kelly Michelle Lemon and Jeremy Richard “Bookie” Michael, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lynwood “Bookie” Michael, three sisters, Lee Anna McCoy, Betty Bohrer, Bonnie Kemp Tyler and one brother, Frederick Shade.
Services and burial at Highland Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phyllis’s memory may be made to Morgan County Rescue Auxiliary, PO Box 272, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
