1943-2023

Judith Lorraine Compton, age 80, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility in Romney, W.Va.

Born August 23, 1943 in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Glen Roy and Kathryn Lorraine Henry Oyerly.

She was a Christian.

Judy attended public schools in Morgan County.

She and her first husband, Ted operated the family business, T.H. Compton Trucking Company, Inc., where she held many roles with the company.

Judy was a member of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Auxiliary Unit #60 in Berkeley Springs.

She enjoyed baking, hunting, painting, doing crafts, truck driving across country, bowling and going to truck tractor pulls.

Judy is survived by her children, Trena Scott and her husband, Glenn and Sonia Andrews and her husband, Doug, all of Berkeley Springs, Misty Hampe and her husband, Byrl of Livingston, Mont., her lifelong companion, Gary Gano of Berkeley Springs, two sisters, Sherry Bohrer of Toms Brook, Va. and Staci Hovermale of Berkeley Springs, nine grandchildren, Brett Youngblood, Jessica Close, Brandi Harper, Chase Andrews, Shalee Youngblood, Tisheena Roberts, Lucas Andrews, Kellie Andrews and William Scott, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and her little fur baby, Loco.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Theodore “Ted” Compton, Jr. and one sister, Glenna Oyerly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Denzil Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
