Danielle Marie Simms
1989-2023
Danielle Marie Simms, age 34, died suddenly on Sunday, July 23, 2023 in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Born March 14, 1989 and residing in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. most of her life, she was the daughter of Julie and Robert Mills. She was a sweet, bright girl, a great listener and loved by all who knew her. Danielle was tragically injured in an accident at 14 years old which left her burned over 80% of her body. Even still, she graduated BSHS in 2007, and went on to have two beautiful children. In her final years, she was able to take those difficult life experiences and apply them to her career as a Sober House Manager. Danielle found her true passion in helping others recover from substance abuse and made quite an impact on a lot of lives.
She is survived by her two children, Kloee and Donovan, her parents, Julie and Robert Mills, and her sisters Amanda Wingo and Emily Somers. In addition, she is survived by her fiancé, Michael Joiner. Danielle and Michael lived in California, where they enjoyed spending time with friends, each other, and exploring the area.
There will be a private graveside ceremony at Greenway Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her grandparents.
A Celebration of Life for Danielle will be held at the Cardinal Pavilion at Cacapon State Park, Saturday, August 19 at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
