Luella M. Yost Ford Andrews, age 88, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Md. surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born October 1, 1934 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leonard M. and C. Estella Stotler Michael Yost.

Luella was a dedicated Christian with a strong faith and was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was an avid reader of the Bible. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, as well as the Isaac and Rebekah Sunday School Class.

Luella graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1952. She continued her education attending business school in Pontiac, Mich. Luella then began working for the U.S. Department of the Navy in Arlington, Va. Upon her marriage, she moved to Utica, Mich. and began working as a secretary for Mercedes Benz. Luella returned to Hagerstown, Md. and was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as the secretary to the assistant superintendent of schools. Relocating to Berkeley Springs, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Glass and Sand Corporation/ITT and retired in 1985.

Luella was a caring and energetic worker wherever she volunteered. She helped to establish the United Way of Morgan County and she was chairman of the fundraising campaign for five years. In addition, she served on the Cacapon Resort State Park Foundation Board of Directors. Luella was a member of the Fox Glove Garden Club, WVU Extension Master Gardeners of Morgan County, Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arranging), Morgan County CEOS, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #60, Morgan County Farm Bureau, Morgan County War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer for other charitable organizations.

Luella’s hobbies included reading, gardening, cooking, and watching people laugh, especially her children. Everyone who met Luella was touched by her kindness and her generosity. She was blessed with a large family and especially enjoyed family and social gatherings.

Luella is survived by three sons, Donald D. Ford, Jr., Leonard M. Ford and Stephen R. Ford, four stepchildren, Kevan Andrews Namay, Kip Andrews Omps, Earle H. Andrews and Douglas M. Andrews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald D. Ford, Sr., her second husband of 41 years, Hale E. Andrews, her brothers, Warren C. Yost, Dwight A. Yost, Bernard D. Yost and Leonard F. Yost, one sister, Betty Y. Cohill Trittapoe, three stepbrothers, E. Virgil Yost, Alfred M. Yost and Frank L. Yost and two stepsisters, Mary Yost Hottel Martin and Ama Yost Catlett.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Josh Rider officiating. Burial was in Greenway Cemetery.

The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the funeral home.
