Woodrow Duane Unger
1942-2023
Woodrow Duane Unger, 80, Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Sterling Care South in Boonsboro, Md.
Born December 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Woodrow H. and Mary Effland Unger, and the husband of Dovona R. Unger, who he married at Orchard Ridge First Church of God, on August 30, 1963.
He was a 1960 Graduate of Hancock High School.
He was employed at Dawson’s Hardware from 1988 until 2018. He was a former employee of Fairview Orchards.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a son, Kevin D. Unger, Falling Waters, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Kevin B. Unger and Amber L. Hixon; eight great-grandchildren, Caden Hixon, Devon Hixon, Hunter Hixon, Emily Unger, Katie Unger, Junalexis Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Jr., and Dallas Anderson; three sisters, Barbara K. Horsburgh, Shirley D. Michael and JoAnn A. Schetrompf; two brothers, Rodney L. Unger and Michael L. Unger; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather R. Anderson; two daughters-in-law, Tina Y. Unger and Billie Jo Unger; a sister, Linda Sue Golden; and his mother-in-law, J. Louise Reed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, MD.
