Philip Alan Sears, Sr.
1955-2023
Philip Alan Sears, Sr, age 67, of Bluffton, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 24th, 2023.
Born December 11th, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Ethel Mae (McCready) Sears and the late Charles Albert Sears, Sr.
Philip attended Saint Mary’s Elementary School in Annapolis, Maryland, and graduated from Annapolis High School. He began his career as a Tool Design Engineer at James Rumsey Technical Institute in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Throughout his 30 year career, he obtained multiple certificates in the Aircraft /Aerospace Industry and worked on many prestigious projects.
Philip travelled extensively with his job and always looked forward to his next design. In his final years, Philip settled in his beautiful Sun City residence, working as an Aerospace Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace. He was passionate about golf, bird watching, crabbing, traveling and playing pool. He always looked forward to spending time with his family, friends and his Sunday night conversations with his mother.
In addition to his mother, Philip will be forever remembered by his two sons, Philip, Jr. (Katherine and her daughter Kylie) of Baldwin, Maryland and Michael (Lauren) of Baltimore, Maryland. He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Tabisz and Kathy Feeney of Severna Park, Maryland, and two brothers, Tom Sears of Severna Park, Maryland and Joe Sears of Stevensville, Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Philip was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Joan Elizabeth (Twigg) Sears and his brother Charles William Sears.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, WV. Interment will be at Greenway Cemetery.
The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at the funeral home.
