Donald L. Faith
1933-2023
Donald L. Faith, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away May 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born August 13, 1933 in Hancock, Md., he was the son of Harry and Irene Orndorff Faith of Hancock, Md. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Priscilla Atkins, Esther Miller, and Jason Faith. He is survived by one sibling, Angelene Faith Manon of Hagerstown, Md., sister-in-law, Linda Faith and several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Hancock High School, Mr. Faith served in the Army where he was stationed in London at the end of the Korean War and was later honorably discharged. He worked at Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown, and retired from CSX after 43 years of service. He was an avid Orioles, Ravens and University of Maryland Terps fan. He was a member of the Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion and the Elks Club in Hagerstown. He enjoyed all things sports and music, attending estate auctions and collecting antiques, traveling, home improvement projects, bird watching, spending time at the beach and spending time with his family.
Mr. Faith was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 66 years, Shirley Culp Faith. They lived in Hagerstown where they raised their family. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Faith Geiger and husband Paul Geiger of Hagerstown, Md., Dr. Jane Faith Kapustin of Pasadena, Md., and Laura Faith Rauch and husband Robert Rauch of Marriottsville, Md.; three grandchildren, Jessica Smith and her husband Curtis Smith of Marriottsville, Md., Ali Kapustin and Nick Kapustin, both of Baltimore, Md.; and one great-granddaughter, Leah Faith Smith.
Friends will be received on Friday May 12, 2023 from 6 to 8 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, Md. Graveside services will be private and held later with the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to be made in Mr. Faith’s name to the Gilchrist Hospice Center of Howard County in Columbia, MD or to any other charity of choice.
