Buddy Bernard Kinsey

1931-2023

Buddy Bernard Kinsey, 92, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, entered into his eternal slumber on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

He was born April 22, 1931, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, son of the late Dorothia (Rau) and Howard G. Kinsey. Buddy defended our freedom as a United States Marine in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He defended our community as a professional firefighter.Buddy defended our family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Always involved in sports and coaching, he developed a love of golf later in life. He was a devoted lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles.

Buddy passed peacefully at his mountain retreat surrounded by family. It was at this home where he communed with nature, entertained family and friends, constructed bird houses and warded off bears. A patriarch of a large extended family, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 70 years, Joan (Offutt); five sons, David (Lori), Mark (Kathy), James (Maureen), Steven (Teresa) and Darrin (Kiki); a sister-in-law Nancy (Offutt) Mitchell; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one loving aunt; one loving uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased not only by his parents, but also by his only brother, Gregory Kinsey.

Celebration of Life services will be planned for a later date.
