Panthers fended off by Cardinals on senior night doubleheader

by Lisa Schauer

The Hancock Panthers boys’ varsity basketball team lost to the Forbes Road Cardinals of Waterfall, Pa. 67-47 on home court Wednesday, February 1.

Despite sophomore Aiden McCarty making it rain all night, putting 28 points on the scoreboard, it wasn’t enough to fend off the Cardinals in the non-conference matchup.

The Panthers girls’ varsity team played first in the basketball doubleheader. The lady Panthers suffered a 56-34 loss to the visiting Forbes Road Cardinals.

It was senior night for the Panthers, as student athletes from the class of ’23 were recognized between games for participation in winter sports teams including boys’ and girls’ basketball, and indoor track and field.

Next up, the Panthers host Legacy Christian Academy on Thursday, February 9 at Hancock High School. Boys’ varsity game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the girls’ varsity game starts at 7 p.m.
