A fugitive from justice wanted by the Morgan County Sherriff’s department was arrested following a Fairview Drive traffic stop on Wednesday, February 2 at about 2 p.m.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Lieutenant Place, police observed a vehicle traveling about 52 MPH in a 35 MPH zone and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Kiersten N. Yeakle, 26, of Hancock, was unable to produce a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance.
Yeakle’s license had been suspended in 2019 following a DUI conviction.
Yeakle was also wanted by police for failure to appear at a Morgan County Magistrate Court hearing on December 13, 2022.
The Morgan County Sherriff’s department had a warrant out on Yeakle after she failed to show up for a court hearing on charges of unlawful taking of a vehicle and destruction of property at Douglas Lane in Berkeley Springs on August 3, 2022.
Yeakle was arrested and charged with capius, driving suspended for DUI, speeding, no operator’s license and no proof of insurance. She is currently incarcerated at Eastern Regional Jail awaiting a hearing.
