Panthers earn back-to-back basketball wins in January

With head coach Eddie Morris at the helm a young Hancock Panthers boys’ varsity basketball team earned two back-to-back victories in January.

First, the Panthers travelled to Mount Storm, W.Va. for a non-conference game against the Tigers at Union High School on Monday, January 23.

Sophomore Aiden McCarty scored 16 points in the game, leading the Panthers to a 34-30 win over the Tigers.

Junior Isaiah Demory scored nine points; sophomore Jacob Anderson scored five points; and junior Mason Conrad scored four points in a game dominated throughout by the Panthers.

Then on Friday, January 27 the Hancock Panthers played host for a regional conference matchup against the Hyndman Charter School Hornets of Hyndman, Pa.

The Panthers buried the Hornets 64-24 at home in the conference game. Junior Mason Conrad led the Panthers scoring with 21 points in the matchup.

Junior Jordyn King scored 15 points for the Panthers and sophomore Aiden McCarty scored 9 points against Hyndman.

Freshman Ethan Calhoun- Hill and sophomore Jacob Anderson scored seven points each in a decisive win for the Panthers.

The Panthers went on the road Monday, January 30 at 4-12 for the season to face off against New Life Christian School in Frederick.

The next home game will be Senior Night on Wednesday, February 1 at 7 p.m. when the Panthers look to nip the Forbes Road Cardinals of Waterfall, Pa.
