Roderick “Rick” Phillip Stahl

Roderick Phillip Stahl (“Rick”), 78, of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, passed into Jesus’ arms on January 13, 2023, as the love of his life for 34 years, Liz Sheehan, daughter, Kathleen Sheehan Vello, and son-in-law, Matt Vello, were by his side.

Rick spent his life as a contractor, farmer, enjoying nature and making others laugh. Rick was quick to lend a helping hand, first to crack a joke and last to judge.

A member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, in Hancock, Maryland, and previously the Free Pentecostal Church, in Fort Loudon, Rick was strongly rooted in faith and made honoring the Lord’s Word and the beauty the world offers his priorities. Some of his favorite hobbies were wildlife spotting, gunsmithing, tending his gardens, restoring tractors and caring for his family and friends. Rick was known for his ability to fix anything and complete the most complex tasks.

Rick is survived by many relatives, friends and neighbors. He cared deeply for and spoke fondly of his beloved children: Laurinda Dianne West, Corrine Marcie Zimmerman and Rick Allen Stahl; his cherished sisters: Brenda Groters (and husband Carl) and Paula Gallas (and husband Rick) and his grandchildren.

Rick will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.

Family will receive guests at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Maryland, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 2-4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or remembrances, Rick would be honored, if you desire, to consider donating to the Izaak Walton League of America or the American Maltese Association Rescue.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md.
