Pirates tiptoe past Panthers 52-47 in Christmas tournament rematch

After losing to the Hancock Panthers in their season opener at home last month, the Paw Paw Pirates boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Hancock last Wednesday, December 28 for a non-conference Christmas tournament rematch.

By the end of the third quarter, the Hancock Panthers were leading the game 42-38 with another victory in sight.

But the Paw Paw Pirates fought back, scoring 14 points in the final quarter, and snatching the victory 52- 47 over the Panthers.

Scoring 21 points was sophomore Aiden McCarty, selected Hancock player of the game.

Junior Isaiah Demory scored 10 points in the game. Freshman Ethan Calhoun-Hill scored 5 points.

The Panthers traveled to Hyndman, Pa. on Tuesday, January 3 to tip off against Hyndman Charter School.

The Panthers’ next home game is Thursday, January 12 at 7 p.m. versus Faith Christian Academy of Martinsburg.
