1925-2022

Elton Eugene Ensor, Sr., 97, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home in Warfordsburg, Pa.

Born February 8, 1925, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Noah and Ethel (Little) Ensor, and the widower of Thelma Vivian Ensor.

He proudly served in the United States Navy in WWII from 1944 until 1946. He served in the United States Navy Reserves 1964 until 1976. He received many accommodations, awards and distinctions for his service.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel Company in Baltimore, Md., (Sparrows Point Shipyard) after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 203, Disabled American Veterans, U.S. Navy Memorial VFW and Redman Club Lodge 84.

He loved his motorcycles and working around the house.

He was proud to be lead rider in the “God Bless America Ride” from Greencastle, Pa., truck stop to the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He truly loved his family and the country he fought for.

He is survived by his son, Elvis, and wife Barb, Warfordsburg, Pa.; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Elton, Jr. (Gypsy) and Warren Irvin; one daughter, Cynthia Cathy; one grandson, Jeremy and one great-grandson, Noah.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, December 1, 2022, 3-7 p.m., at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md. Funeral service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at the funeral home. Rev. Canon Vicar Dana Cursello will officiate. Burial will follow at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Rd., NE, Flintstone, Md.

Memorial donations can be made in Elton’s name to Heartland Hospice, 1976 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md.
