1958-2022

Larry Lynn Appel, 64, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Frederick Health, Frederick, Md.

Born October 7, 1958, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late John W. and Doris (Boone) Appel. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years.

He was a 1976 graduate of Flintstone High School, Flintstone, Md.

He was employed by and retired from Maryland Corrections. He was a truck driver for several years for Wolf Brothers.

He was a member of the Little Orleans United Methodist Church.

He was a volunteer EMT for Hancock, Md., and Little Orleans, Md. Fire Companies. He loved to fish, play bingo and go to casinos.

He is survived by two brothers, John W. Appel, Jr., and wife, Connie, Midland, Md., and Randel V. Appel, and wife, Starla, Cumberland, Md.; two sisters, Deborah M. Morgan, Hagerstown, Md., and Kathy A. Reed, and husband, Robert, Little Orleans, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Terry L. Appel.

There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, Md., followed by a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. Pastor Jean Squires will officiate. Inurnment will follow service at Martin Cemetery, Little Orleans, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry’s name to the Little Orleans Fire Company, 12210 Orleans Rd NE, Little Orleans, MD 21766.
