Violet Marie Geist
1947-2022
Violet Marie Geist, 75, of Hancock, Md., lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully Monday, October 10, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Violet was born February 7, 1947, in Hancock, Md.
She was one of ten daughters of the late Alta and Carl Coonrod. Violet was a loving mother to her three girls and a devoted wife to her husband of 54 years, John E. Geist.
She is survived by her three daughters: Kimberly Marie Selby, Frances Marie Geist with Bud and Gladys Marie Geist (Leonard); her three grandchildren: Tiffany Marie Geist and fiancé Christopher Duvall, Keay (Rachel) Edward Geist and Ian Jacob Selby. Violet is also survived by her five sisters: Carlene Eaton, Wilda Reed, Martha Wilhide, Lois Shives and Joan Blankley. Violet was blessed with two great grandchildren, Johnathon Robert Leeney and Malissa Ella-Marie Duvall. She was proceeded in death by her four sisters: Brenda Coonrod (infant), Naomi Clingerman, Alma (Sister) Younker and Sue Singleton. Violet and John attended Hancock Assembly of God Church for many years.
She was an avid reader and in her younger days enjoyed sewing and quilting. She loved her family and spending time with her sisters. She was a strong woman who had overcome a severe bout of Covid and survived two brain tumors. She was an inspiration and blessing to those who knew her.
Violet chose to donate her body to science.
A celebration of life was held Monday, October 17, 2022 at Hancock Assembly of God Fellowship Hall from 6-8 p.m.
