Panthers’ football making strides

by Lisa Schauer

The Hancock Panthers varsity football team lost 51-20 to Shenandoah Valley at home in week four last Saturday, September 24.

“We lost 51-20, but we made great strides,” said head coach Ron Hare after the game.

Sophomore Hayden McCarty scored one touchdown and gained 248 all-purpose yards during the game.

All-purpose yards are a player’s combined total from receiving, rushing, punt and kickoff returns, interceptions and fumble returns.

Junior Isaiah Demory scored two touchdowns, and ran the ball into the end zone from the two-yard line for a two-point conversion on the day.

The Panthers return to their gridiron this Friday night, September 30 to face off against Southern Garrett. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Hancock High School.
