Joyce Lee Younker, age 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 5, 1948 in Clear Spring, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Calvin and Susan Pauline Bridendolph Mills.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Joyce was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.
She had worked in the housekeeping department of the Country Inn and as a salesclerk at The Home Center in Hancock, Md.
She liked going to the beach, birdwatching, spending time with her family and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was a good cook who made everything from scratch. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, Melvin Leroy Younker, at home, her children, Karen Christine Kerns and her husband Ricky and Kathryn Marie Bryan, all of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Curtis “Bill” Younker and his wife Casey, of Berkeley Springs, three sisters, Carol Eshelman of Hagerstown, Md., Gloria Kenney of Florida and Dorothy Mills of Baltimore, Md., one brother, Calvin Mills of Martinsburg, seven grandchildren, Roman Shirley, Brandon Kerns and Zachary Collins, all of Martinsburg, Tyler Younker, Benjamin Blake and Nicholas Blake, all of Berkeley Springs and April Kennedy of Hagerstown, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolores Mills, Lorraine Mills and Carrie Wolford and three brothers, Joseph Mills, Donald Mills and Harry Mills.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. where friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Pastor Richard Rutherford will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions to help defray funeral expenses may be made directly to the funeral home.
