Donald I. Unger

1940-2022

Donald I. Unger, 82, Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home.

Born June 27, 1940, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Fonzie and Eleanor (McManus) Unger, and the widow of Vivian I. Unger, who he married on January 14, 1961, and who passed away on July 5, 2021.

He was on the Board of Directors of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery Association.

He was a construction superintendent for Waynesboro Construction Company for over 38 years.

He loved to play his guitar.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen Reed, Clear Spring, Md.; a son, Greg Unger, Hancock, Md.; two grandsons, Dylan Reed, Waynesboro, Pa., Cody Unger, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a brother, Leroy Unger, Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters Jean Walls, Hancock, Md., Darlene Shives, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Tina Starliper, Hancock, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Unger; a grandson, Josh Unger; four brothers Eugene, Gary, Roger Lee and Harold Robert Unger; and a sister, Betty Sipes.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m., at Grove Funeral Home. Rev. Denver Plessinger officiated. Interment followed at Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
