Marian Elizabeth McCray
1924-2022
Marian Elizabeth McCray, 98, Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at War Memorial Hospital, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born March 23, 1924, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edward T. Unger, Sr., and Edith Henry Unger and the widow of Mark C. McCray, her husband of 65 years.
Along with her husband, she owned McCray Electric in Hancock, Md., for 30 years.
She was a Charter Member, and Past President, of the Hancock Lioness Club. She was a Past-President of the Hancock Business Association.
After her retirement, she enjoyed making ceramics and working alongside her sister in her sister’s business, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
She loved her church family at Orchard Ridge First Church of God, where she was a member.
She is survived by two daughters, Jenny Caldwell, Hancock, Md., and Denise Apple, and husband, Kenny, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Michael Caldwell, and wife, Leslie, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Marcy Simpson, and husband, Jason, of Sharpsburg, Md.; one great-granddaughter, Kara Simpson; one great-grandson, Peyton Caldwell and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Unger, Jr., Herbert Unger and Jack Unger and four sisters, Virginia Opincar, Jane Wertz, June Shives and Betty Wertz.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 11 a.m., at the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Rd., Hancock, MD 21750. Reverend Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orchard Ridge First Church of God at the above address.
