An early morning tractor trailer fire on eastbound I-70 on Tuesday shut down both lanes at the 9 mile marker, detouring commuter traffic onto Route 40 and through Clear Spring.
According to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Company, firefighters were on the scene shortly after 4:30 a.m. to knock down the fire and clear the roadway. The tractor trailer had pulled over onto the shoulder before becoming fully engulfed.
I-70 remailed closed for several hours.
No additional information about the cause of the fire was available at press time.
